Last month, I was on assignment to shoot the city where I live—Manila. So I was thinking where to best get lost and shoot some fresh images. I always like shooting in Quiapo, the downtown area where chaos reigns. The vendorsĀ sell cheap China-made goods, Baguio vegetables probably snitched from the “bagsakan” areas near the bus stations of Dangwa or Victory liner or the queen of all markets—Divisoria. In Quiapo also is Hidalgo street, known as the the main suppliers of photographic equipment. This is controlled by Filipino-Chinese businessmen. They get their supplies from their counterparts in HK and elsewhere. Anyway, I am getting sidetracked. I went and stood near the Jones Bridge near the Sta Cruz Plaza after having come from Meyer’s, mang Ramon King’s photo store. I had just bought a 16-85mm nikon lens. I wanted to try it for the wide pictures I might get. It was also a good time to shoot the assignment. Here are some of the results of that day’s shoot.
