I had never thought much about corals except that I know fish live in them. But if you live in a country with lots of sea water around it and if you also travel by boat to the various islands and happen to love snorkeling or diving, there will be many chances of coral encounter. Today, the corals are turning white due to climate change—seawater has become hotter by 2 degrees. I went to see some scientists from DLSU and UP do their work as they monitored coral reefs in Lian, Batangas.

Going to the reef.

Physicist Dr. Maricor Soriano and her students from UP Diliman prepare to dive with Dr. Licuanan.

Lian, Batangas coastline in the DLSU Mariune Station. Lately, I’ve been thinking of doing panoramic images and have thought of doing a series. Maybe this will be the start. Watch out for the results next time.
